Yesterday (Sunday) I visited Cinque Terre. Its a collection of these five little towns that are inexcessable by road. You have to hike in and out through the mountains. It was a good time. I swam for the time in Mediteranian Sea. Yeah, its salty just like the ocean. The country side near these towns was great, Green Hills and Black Cliffs. As you can see from the Photo the path you take to go through mountains is quite difficult.

Cinque Terre was one of my favorite places in Italy, everything was beautiful. Did you do the entire hike? I only made it to Vernazza and then took the train to the last city.
Actually I did 9 miles of Hiking through the first 4 cities and then took the Ferry to the last city. The Hike was worth it, you get to see the things that the train passes by.
